About Jill Shatzen Kerr
Jill Shatzen Kerr is a strategic communications professional and executive-level writer with more than 15 years of experience navigating the intersection of public policy, crisis management and corporate reputation.
Jill most recently managed high-profile public relations and policy communications for Capital One and Amazon, where her work focused on reputational management during periods of intense scrutiny and growth.
As an early member of Amazon’s DC-based policy communications team, Jill managed PR issues and crises during the first Trump administration. She served on the company’s COVID communications task force where she prepped executives for near-daily television appearances during the early days of the pandemic. She lead speaker training and prep for contentious legislative hearings during the company’s highly publicized search for a second headquarters, known as HQ2, and was part of the team that navigated policy considerations during the acquisition of Whole Foods. At Capital One, she led PR for the Card Partnerships and Commercial Bank lines of business, including navigating communications considerations during the company’s acquisition of Discover.
Jill’s corporate experience is grounded in a deep understanding of the legislative and political landscape, gained while working in the U.S. House of Representatives. She served as a senior spokesperson and communications director for multiple members of Congress, including House leadership. She developed messaging for powerful committees, including House Appropriations, Energy and Commerce, and Rules, giving her a front row seat into how legislative and regulatory decisions are made.
Jill offers writing talent, keen editorial judgment and the demonstrated ability to deftly navigate complex corporate challenges and opportunities while considering political and policy implications.
She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism and Communications, and lives in Dallas with her husband and three children.
