About Jill Shatzen Kerr

Jill Shatzen Kerr is a communications professional with more than 15 years of experience in public relations, public policy and government affairs. She began her career in the U.S. House of Representatives, working as a senior spokesperson and communications director for various offices, including House leadership. Each of the members of Congress she worked for sat on powerful committees, including House Appropriations, Energy and Commerce and Rules. 

In 2016, Jill became the first member of Amazon’s DC-based public policy communications team. She navigated high-profile PR issues and crises during the first Trump administration that touched nearly all parts of the business. She was a member of the team during the company’s acquisition of Whole Foods and led PR efforts prepping executives for local government hearings during its highly publicized search for a second headquarters, known as HQ2. She represented the policy communications team on Amazon’s COVID communications task force, prepping executives for near-daily television appearances during the early days of the pandemic. 

In 2020 she began working for Capital One, leading PR efforts in support of its Card Partnerships and Commercial Bank lines of business, focusing primarily on capital markets. Jill was part of the team that helped navigate PR considerations during the company’s acquisition of Discover, working closely with the government affairs teams on reputational communications efforts for an audience of policymakers and regulators. 

She graduated in 2010 with a degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida. 

Jill offers writing talent, a keen editorial eye, strong news judgment, experience deftly navigating corporate challenges and opportunities, plus a deep understanding of legislative and regulatory implications and political considerations.
